The Cosmo Voyage story has been going on for quite a while. Here you can find a brief summary of all the events that have happened so far. The story will be updated regularly, and more details may be added over time. I would recommend reading over the special abilities before reading the story.
The year is 3455, and Earth has been turned into a vast cityscape. Nature survives solely in preserves and public parks. The Superior Intergalactic Alliance (SIA) has transformed society into one where food is synthesized, and the only form of currency, is your reputation. The Universal Space Union, integral to the SIA, serves as the space navy and spearheads research, diplomacy, and colonization efforts.
Juan Tibetan Quirk, played by ElderGodBones, works as a bouncer at the Twin Peaks Valley strip club in the mega city of Metropatits. One evening he gets into altercation with a drunk patron, who turned out to be an officer of the Universal Space Union. The Space Union pressed charges against Quirk and he was given the choice between joining the Space Union, or serving jail time. Juan decided to join the Space Union.
Juan flourished in the Space Union Academy, going on to specialize as a pilot. The pilot program offers many benefits, such as graduating as a Lieutenant rather than an Ensign, but it is also one of the most challenging programs to go into. There are several subcategories of the piloting program, with being an actual pilot being the most difficult. Juan ended up graduating with the highest piloting scores in the history of the academy. His navigation scores were also second highest in the class, behind a man named Jeoff Liam Packedcard.
After graduating from the academy, both Lieutenant Quirk and Lieutenant Packedcard were assigned to the USS Venture, a light research vessel under the command of Captain Rango Fogya. During his time aboard the Venture, Lt. Quirk met a talented medical officer named Reginald Du'Bois, which the crew called "Huge Reg" due to his tall stature at 6' 8" and his previous profession of being a bodybuilder. Everyone on the ship knows that for as strong as Huge Reg is, he is even more precise.
While on a routine exploratory mission the Venture was ordered to investigate a nearby spacial anomaly. Upon arriving they found what appeared to be a cosmic storm with high concentrations of antimatter. A huge bolt of cosmic-energy struck the Venture causing heavy damage, and a large portion of the crew perished. The remaining five hundred and seventy eight survivors all were granted elemental abilities. Quirk developed the galactic ability, Packedcard the machine ability, while Huge Reg and Captain Fogya were both gifted with the grim ability.
In the wake of the cosmic storm's aftermath, the USS Venture underwent a comprehensive refurbishment, emerging as the USS Hertz, a larger and more advanced research cruiser.
The Hertz was reassigned to a new division of the Space Union, exploring the edges of known space and researching anomalies in space. Life on the Hertz was certainly an adjustment, all of the original crew from the Venture had been transferred to the Hertz and the new crew members felt insignificant compared to those that had elemental abilities. Quirk worked really hard to maintain the same level of respect for those with and without powers, leading him to be well liked by the crew members. Among the new crew members were the grim brothers of Huge Reg, and Captain Fogya, Tiny Reg and Casper Fogya. Huge Reg's grim brother, Tiny Reg, was known to be just as brilliant as Huge Reg was strong. This led to Tiny Reg acting as a sort of living AI for the ship, a very nice touch considering that AIs were currently illegal in the Superior Intergalactic Alliance. After a few months, the Hertz was ordered to investigate an anomaly nearby, when the Hertz arrived they found a planet, that showed signs of sentient life.
Upon arriving at this new planet, Captain Rango Fogya ordered a landing party consisting of himself, Quirk, Packedcard, and Huge Reg. As the shuttle entered the atmosphere, they lost control due to the significantly higher gravity and thick fog on the planet, leading to a crash that left Quirk unconscious.
Upon waking to find his crewmembers gone and tire tracks leading away from the shuttle, Quirk attempts to follow the tire tracks, but was overwhelmed by the pull of the higher gravity. Fortunately a car resembling a 1950s Jeep approached him, being driven by a blue humanoid alien. The alien introduced himself as Kiphe, the first ambassador of his species, the Bulgardians. Kiphe told Quirk that the other crew members had been injured in the crash and were taken to a nearby medical facility.
Quirk and Kiphe rode to the medical facility to find Packedcard with a mechanical right arm, Huge Reg being completely unaffected by the higher gravity, and Captain Fogya in a coma and in critical condition. Thinking quickly the crew decided that it would be best to take Captain Fogya back to ship where they can try to use the advanced medical facilities to treat Captain Fogya. Upon starting the surgery back on the ship, Captain Rango Fogya unfortunately passed away along with his brother Casper, the first officer of the USS Hertz.
Upon reporting the news of the Fogya brothers passing, the Space Union made Quirk acting captain of the Hertz and Packedcard the acting first officer. Quirk was tasked with learning about the Bulgardian society, so he returned to planet surface to establish diplomatic relations with the Bulgardians and learn what he can. He met the higher up in their society, the Justice Guardians, and learned that their kind had been harassed and ruled by a different space faring species just a few hundred years prior. Through many years of research and development, they were able to overthrow their overlords with nuclear weapons. Since then they started researching nuclear energy and became a more pacifist society. Quirk then returned to the Hertz to report back to the Union council about his findings. He was surprised when he was given the order to get the Bulgardians to agree to forcefully become a space faring species, or destroy the entire planet. When Quirk asked about the extreme choices, he was told that the reasons were classified. Through his diplomatic skills he was able to convince the Bulgardians to not only go into the space age, but to also join the SIA. The crew of the Hertz spent several months teaching the Bulgardians about space travel, and helped them develop their first space ships. When the Bulgardians were ready to head to Earth to start the process of becoming members of the SIA, the Hertz was set to follow behind as an escort.
Quirk watched as the Bulgardian ship made it's jump to hyperspace towards Earth and as he prepared to follow behind, another ship appeared in the star system. This new ship did not look like any ship belonging to any of the members of the SIA, so Quirk opened communications with the ship. Once comms had been established, the captain of this new ship stated "All will be crushed under the power of the Ohffshouve." This started a massive space battle between the Hertz and the Ohffshouve ship. Despite the Hertz being weaker and having fewer weapons, Quirk was able to do significant damage to the Ohffshouve ship. Quirks excitement at the sight of the enemy ship breaking apart quickly faded as both parts were now flying as two separate ships. Quirk remained vigilant and kept attacking the enemy ships. The battle raged on and the Hertz took significant damage, requiring the crew to put on their space suits. The enemy ships ended up breaking apart a few more times before Quirk admitted that he was in over his head. As he prepared to jump to hyperspace, a torpedo from one of the enemy ships disabled his warp drive. Quick on his feet, he devised a plan. He pushed the Hertz to it's absolute limits and then ejected the reactor core, once the remaining enemies were close enough, he detonated the core, and took them out. Upon the detonation, the Hertz was rocked, and Quirk sent flying through the viewport of the bridge. When he went through the viewport his helmet was badly damaged and as his vision faded to black, he saw that reinforcements had arrived.
Our second season begins when Quirk awakens, it's been almost a year since the Offeshouve incident. Quirk remains a fraction of the man he used to be, literally. He finds himself missing his right shoulder and arm, his lungs, and everything from his digestive system down. He's hooked to many machines keeping him alive, and in the room surrounding him are some of his closest companions, Packedcard and Hugereg. Throughout the discussion, it was revealed that there were no casualties from the Offeshouve encounter, despite the ship being lost. It was also revealed that Hugereg had performed Quirk's surgery, and they had made him some advanced prosthetics. After serveral more weeks of recovery and adjusting to his new mechanical body parts, Quirk was ready to get back into space. Quirk went on to receive his new orders, and to his surprise he was given another ship to command. The USS Trivago, a custom research vessel made for the surviving crew of the Hertz. This new ship, a medium-light cruiser was made with Huge Reg in mind, boasting 20 foot main corridors to provide him continued accessibility to the ship. With it also came new crew members, a total of 750, with a maximum capacity of 3200. It was barebones, but this new ship was also meant to grow with the still newly formed division of the Space Union, that it was the sole member of. Among it's features is the new Sub-physical Virtualized Training facility, or SubV-TF for short. This new module would allow virtual environments to be created within the ship, allowing for limitless testing and training of any new technologies discovered or developed, as well as allowing the crew members with elemental abilities to practice and master their gifts. There are also large empty sections of the ship to allow any expansions or new sections to be easily added down the road. Quirk was also given notice that he had been given a temporary promotion to Captain, pending him proving his ability to continue to command a ship, and being able to pass his promotion exams. His first assignment as captain of the USS Trivago, to rendezvous with the newly constructed Black Site Bulgardian Space Station and research any anomalies that the space station has detected.
Qurik's first assignment as captain of the USS Trivago, to rendezvous with the newly constructed Black Site Bulgardian Space Station and research any anomalies that the space station has detected. Along the way Quirk was given the task of learning about every crew member of the USS Trivago, because of this his first time addressing the crew, he establish and open door policy as well as a more relaxed and casual lifestyle aboard the ship. The ship was also piloting an exosuit program, one that would give enhanced capabilities to the crew members that did not have elemental abilities. These exosuits linked to a neural transplant developed onboard the ship, and was designed to be upgradable for future iterations, each suit would also be custom tailored to the individual. The first person to receive their exosuit was Lieutenant Cornelius Baxster, a gifted medical officer that had volunteered to be the first. After a long recovery process from receiving his transplant, he was given his exosuit, equipped with medical synthesizers and various medical tools that may be needed of him. Upon arriving at the Bulgardian Space Station, Quirk was greeted by none other than Kiphe, who had taken up command of the Space Station. After spending some time catching up with Kiphe, Quirk was given the coordinates of another anomaly detected by the space station. Quirk wasted no time making his way towards the new anomaly and decided to use some of his downtime doing combat training with Huge Reg in the newly created SubV-TF. They trained in various scenarios for a few hours, and eventually the force of Huge Reg's movements broke the SubV-TF. Upon ending the simulation, another person was in the SubV-TF with Quirk and Huge Reg, a man dressed as a Commander of the Universal Space Union. The man introduced himself as Commander Alimar, a researcher at a Space Union black site. This man was not onboard the ship before the simulation, and so Quirk took him to the ship's brig while doing some investigating of his own. Upon conferencing with the Space Union council, he was informed that he had all of the right records and service history within the Space Union database, but that they had all been created while the SubV-TF simulation was active. Quirk was told to integrate him within the ship's crew until the Union determined what to do about this newly created being. As much as Quirk disagreed with these orders, he complied, first taking him to the medical bay to be evaluated for duty.
The newly created Alimar went through most of the medical examination without issue, until the genetic medical scans went haywire, causing a massive explosion in the medical bay. This explosion blew a large hole into the side of the Trivago causing Alimar, Huge Reg, Packedcard, and a few other medical staff members out of the hole. During the lockdown Quirk tried to get a status report from Tiny Reg, only to find out that he was no longer there. Quirk rushed to engineering to find out from Sprocket that the ship was rapidly falling down to a nearby planet and Quirk reminded that the USU ships are not designed to enter or leave atmospheres. Quirk went straight to work on getting an evaluation of the planet's surface and tried to pinpoint a decent crash site that would be relatively close to where the crew members would have landed, hoping that they may have somehow survived. They crashed hard into some mountains closeby to where the crew members may have landed, and initial scans of the ship confirmed that the hull and thrusters were in dire shape, as well as revealing that the long range comms systems had been destroyed, luckily the planet had a breathable atmosphere. After getting a makeshift infirmary setup in the cargo bay, Quirk took a shuttle and began searching for signs of the crew members that had been ejected from the ship. After several hours of searching, Quirk was able to locate a few of the missing crew members, by spotting their campfire along the shore of a lake. He found Alimar and Packedcard sitting by the campfire with Huge Reg knocked unconscious nearby. Quirk went in to attack Alimar, when Packedcard stopped him and explained that Huge Reg had saved them from the fall with his body, but Alimar saved them from the planet's natural predators, causing him to lose a few of his fingers. They went back to the ship, where Alimar and Packedcard were patched up at the infirmary, Huge Reg was monitored while in a coma, and Tiny Reg came back to the ship. Packedcard and Alimar revealed that they had seen no signs of the other crew members, and did not expect them to survive the fall and the natural wildlife of the planet. Quirk decided that he would investigate the SUBV-TF logs to try and find what caused Alimar to come into existence. His search led him to find out that 3rd Lt. Jason Sprowles, a simulation engineer, had modified the code to create Alimar in an attempt to overthrow the ship and exterminate the powered indiviuals, whom he considered a threat to humanity. Quirk decided to lock Alimar back in the brig, not for lack of trust in Alimar, but for concern that malicious code be present in his existence. At this time, Tiny Reg revealed that he had been working on a project to created a phyiscal body for himself and that he was willing to donate it to Alimar. Upon scrubbing his consciousness for malicious programming, Alimar was transferred into the new body, and Alimar himself burned his original body to ensure that it was no longer a threat. Quirk went to confront Sprowles again in the brig, where Sprowles attempted to activate some of the now scrubbed malicious programming in Alimar, only to realize that it had been removed. Upon encountering this, Quirk made the decision that Sprowles should be put to death for his crimes. After the execution, the crew began to work on preparations for trying to get the ship off of the planet, they had a plan, but it would take over a year and a half to complete.
After months of hard work and dedication, the crew managed to get the Trivago back out of atmosphere and into space. Upon making it back into space, an incredibly massive ship warped next to them, and pulled them into a docking clamp. Upon, boarding the ship they were met with Chairman Admiral Casheon, informing them that the ship they are on does not exist, and they will never speak of it again. This ship, was the legendary Casheon's Fist. A ship that only exists in whispers and rumors, known only for being a secret. Casheon decided to appoint 3 Junior Admirals from his crew, Smith, Price, and Kilmon, to act as an ethics committee, should another comms blackout occur. Upon close inspection of the damage of the Trivago, Casheon decided that the best course of action would be to bring the Trivago to a shipyard off of Jupiter for massive repairs to take place.
After the repairs were completed, the Trivago went back to the Bulgardia station to get a tour of the now completed space station with Kiphe and as a token of appreciation of what Juan and the USU has done for the entire Bulgardian Race, Kiphe showed Quirk to a memorial to those lost during the battle with the Offshouve, and Quirk was given the Deccilonk El Dorrhita to commemorate their appreciation to what he has done for them. After getting the Deccilonk El Dorrhito, The Trivago set out towards 3 anomalies that we were told to investigate, while in flight towards one of them, retrofits to the power systems were going underway, decision was made to go back to the Bulgardian Space Station to utilize the power systems of the Bulgardian Station. Retrofits were completed and then set out towards the last remaining Anomaly.
After Traveling for 3 days towards the last Anomaly, The Trivago came upon an object that was just suspended in space that was roughly the size of a basketball that was luminous in nature but appeared to be oily in texture and was a flowing viscous liquid. It was decided that Alimar would go out and retrieve said anomaly since he was mechanical in nature and would just need his consciousness downloaded into another body if something went wrong. Alimar grabbed the anomaly, there was an immense flash of light as the anomaly was being absorbed into Alimar's body... after coming back to the Trivago's Brig, Lisohn introduced himself to Juan explaining how he is a "Deity Level Eity" and was the "Glue" that held the Universes together. They went to further explain that Alimar/Lisohn were the same entity but 2 different consciousnesses but melded together. Juan determined that he was not a threat to the crew of the Trivago and let him out of the brig. Around this time, Huge Reg woke up from his injuries received in "Planetfall". Shortly after Huge Reg came to, a shuttle came to pick up Baxter for a Medical Conference about his breakthrough with Low Level Electrical Stimulation of the Human Brain to repair itself from extensive trauma.
Upon arriving at the anomaly, they found a massive black space station made of an unidentifiable alloy, that blocked transmissions and scans. The towering station was hundreds of miles in each dimension. Quirk set out a scouting party to explore this space station. Upon setting foot inside they noticed that the space station was in pristine condition, minus wear and tear of heavy foot traffic, and the lack of power. Their investigations revealed that the space station had been abandoned for around a thousand years. There were no signs of life until they heard large mechanical roars. They decided to setup base on the bridge of the space station, hoping to find some clues. Unfortunately for them, the bridge was also without power. Quirk decided to split the party up and take half of them down to try and start the space stations reactors. Through a series of trial and error on the reactors consoles, they were able to escape the reactor room, which turned out to be inside the actual reactor chamber, with minimal injuries. Upon leaving they heard the mechanical screeches again, and decided to break for the bridge. Once back on the bridge, they party made contact with the Trivago, and set course to rendezvous back to the ship, after having been gone for about a week. While trying to leave, they crossed path with the mechanical apex predators. Large 8 legged sabertooth tiger-like machines. While trapped inside of a maintenance ladder, Lihsohn used a large electrical blast to disable on of the predators. Upon the one being disabled, another one said a few things in various languages until saying in common "Does this one work?" to which they started communicating. The large creatures escorted the party back to their ship answering questions along the way. They were an ancient weapon meant to eradicate the crew of this space station, a weapon of mass destruction, known as The Sentrus. Upon arriving at the shuttle, one of the Sentrus, Trimus, decided to accept Quirk's offer to join the crew as a liaison.
After Trimus accepted the offer to be a liaison for his race aboard the Trivago, Quirk and the Trivago headed back to Earth as per the instructions sent forth by Casheon due to The Sentrus being labeled as an "AI" by the Standards Set by the SIA and USU. After Docking with the Space Elevator above Earth, Quirk and his crew were escorted down the surface of the Earth by representatives from the USU and the SIA alike... upon which Quirk and Casheon were on trial for the issues at hand with Trimus and the Sentrus. After much deliberation, Casheon was sentenced to Life in prison for his responsibility with what happened and Quirk was reprimanded and stripped of the Trivago. After Sentencing was delivered and everything was filed, a discussion was held for what would be Quirk's replacement ship to be purposefully built for him, at the end of the discussion he was told not to expect another ship command after this one, due to the jump in class and due to it's purpose built nature. After the meeting had concluded Quirk was told by the SIA Board of Directors that he had made great friends with them, something Quirk would not soon forget.
After some time, the newly christened "Leviathan" was set for departure toward what was found to be a "graveyard" that was appearing to have new anomalies "appearing" every once and a while.. on it's maiden voyage the Leviathan jumped to the coordinates listed for this anomaly and there was a MASSIVE ship graveyard of ships spanning from all races... known and unknown... ranging from what seemed to be advanced ships and less sophisticated vessels but there was a massive cruise liner with a MASSIVE hole carved out in the center of the vessel... after closer inspection it was the missing cruise liner Mirage, after going through the ship and finding all of the people slaughtered in it.. a lone woman was found and taken into custody from it to the Leviathan. Establishing a connection with the SIA and finding out it was a relative of Lilah Jensen, the technology advisor on the SIA Board of Directors, it was determined that the ship would be taken back Earth to be setup as a memorial for the Mirage.
After bringing the Mirage back to Earth, Quirk and the crew of the Leviathan were sent back to the graveyard to investigate more of the ships there. Upon arriving, Quirk and his crew found an Offshouve cruiser among the the derelict ships. While the crew of the Leviathan investigated this ship, another Offshouve cruiser jumped into the system and attacked the Leviathan. After an incredible battle, the Offshouve ship was destroyed and 3 prisoners were taken. Two males, and one female, all three of them refused to speak to Quirk. While the prisoners waited in the Brig, Quirk worked to take both Offshouve ships to nearby black site located in the Tritus system. While moving the ships to the Tritus system, the two male prisoners refused the meals provided to them and starved to death, while the female prisoner chose to eat and eventually started to cooperate with Quirk.
Upon arriving in the Tritus system, Quirk and some of his crew members went down to the Black Site to start researching the captured vessels. During their research they discovered that the vessels use the blood of the Offshouve to operate and are made of a biomechanical substance that allows it to separate down into the smaller ships, as well as repair itself during combat, explaining the difficulty that the Offshouve present in battle. While trying to discover how the ships operate however, Quirk started an experiment that ended in the destruction of both Offshouve ships, much of the Black site hangar they were stored inside, and killing Sprocket, Alimar/Lisohn, Regi Boi, Huge Reg, and Phirzud (the Offshouve prisoner). Quirk and the remaining crew members returned to the Leviathan to start cloning the fallen crew members, and to report back to the SIA/USU. Upon the revival of Huge Reg, it was revealed the Tiny Reg did not return back to the ship with him, and that he may have perished for good and because of this, the SIA was opening another investigation into Quirk, and he was told to await further instructions.
